Profile
The Pacific Northwest Curling Association (PNWCA) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization focused on the development of the sport of curling. We are one of several regional associations that comprise the United States Curling Association.
Mission
Our mission is to grow the sport of curling in the Pacific Northwest and foster competition at the regional, national, and international levels. We pursue this mission in several ways:
- Provide development resources to curlers within our region
- Host competitive events and qualifiers leading to national events
- Assist arena clubs in transitioning to dedicated facilities
- Provide support to those looking to start a club
Member Clubs
Granite Curling Club of Seattle
With 5 sheets and over 500 members, the Granite Curling Club of Seattle is the largest dedicated curling facility on the west coast of the U.S. The Granite Curling Club is also home to more national championship teams than any other U.S. curling club. Since its foundation in 1951, Granite Curling Club has welcomed everyone to join the club and enjoy the great sport of curling.
Inland Northwest Curling Club
Inland Northwest Curling Club (INWCC) supports curling in the Spokane, WA and Coeur D’Alene, ID area. The club formed from the Lilac Curling Club (Spokane) and the CDA Curling Club in preparation for the 2020 U.S. Curling Nationals held at Eastern Washington University. Currently we curl out of Frontier Ice Arena, but are in the process of raising funds for a dedicated curling facility between Spokane and Coeur D’Alene.
Evergreen Curling Club
Evergreen Curling Club (ECC) was formed in 2002. The first stones were thrown on arena ice at locations in the Portland/Vancouver area. Through fundraising and planning, a dedicated group of members worked to transition to a 3-sheet dedicated ice facility located in the Portland suburb of Beaverton in 2012. ECC is currently the only dedicated curling facility in the state of Oregon. ECC has over 200 active members who participate in promoting curling through public and private instruction and coaching for new and novice curlers, clinics for members, and multiple leagues, bonspiels, and regional playdowns each year.
Bend Curling Club
The Bend Curling Club (BCC) began in 2016 at the Pavilion in beautiful Bend, Oregon. Our arena ice is unique. While the facility has a roof, the sides are open air. This allows for different playing conditions throughout the season. Our club has grown to over 60 members as we are limited with available ice to use for club functions. There is also a Park and Rec program that has about 300 curlers participating each season. We currently only have adult members but would like to include a youth program in the future. Our main focus is to move towards dedicated ice and help to grow the sport of curling in Central Oregon. We are excited to be a part of PNWCA and learning from our partner clubs.
