Adult Learn-to-Row Classes
General Info
The Masters Learn-to-Row Program seeks to provide introductory rowing lessons for beginners and continuing instruction to intermediate rowers in a fun and welcoming environment. Lessons focus on proper technique, safety, and having a great time with new friends out on the Ohio River. We teach a variety of aspects that are involved in the rowing world including: sculling (two oars), sweeping (one oar), indoor rowing (using the Concept 2 ergometer), and coxing (the eyes and brain of the boat – steering and instructing rowers through their practices).

Masters Program
The Masters Rowing Program seeks to provide continued rowing opportunities for anyone with previous rowing experience in the community. The program is flexible and encourages graduates of Learn-to-Row, high school, and college teams to continue as recreational rowers or to train as part of a masters crew. Practice times vary with individual crews. In general, sculling and sweep crews row from late spring until early fall. The crews row most often in the early mornings or early evenings and weekends. Crews row out of both the Downtown and Harrods Creek boathouses.
Adaptive Program
The Adaptive Rowing Program rows on Saturday mornings from late spring until early fall. The Adaptive Rowing Program seeks to bring recreational and competitive rowing for those requiring special coaching or equipment. The Louisville Adaptive Rowing program started in 1996 and is one of the largest, most experienced, and longest running in the United States. Our mission is to provide a safe environment in which we share the joys of rowing with disabled individuals of all types. We also raise the awareness of adaptive rowing through educational outreach. Opportunities are available for PR1, PR2, and PR3 rowers. Our equipment includes recreational Alden Ocean Shell singles and doubles, Paralympic singles and doubles, indoor rowing machines, and personal flotation vests.
