Men’s Team
The Little Rock Men’s rugby team, in the past decade, has become a constant competitor in championship rugby. Formally competing in the South Rugby Union, Little Rock decided to make the jump to the Texas Rugby Union in 2014 and has experienced a continued elevation in success with the ultimate goal of a national championship. The team is currently led by accomplished rugby veteran and former United States National Women’s Rugby Team player, Laura Cabrera. Laura returned to Little Rock, AR in 2014 to assist former USA Women’s 7’s head coach Julie McCoy coach ARPTC. In 2016, McCoy led the team to the national tournament and ended the season 11th in the country.
Coach Laura Cabrera enjoys coaching rugby at all levels whether it be in a full-time environment, weekend clinic, or rookie rugby. Coach Cabrera is at home on the pitch sharing the many benefits of playing rugby, being part of a team, and building a community.
The Little Rock Men’s Rugby Club is continually looking for players who wish to be part of not only a team but a second family. The club competes in the Texas Rugby Union Division 2. Little Rock is excited for the future and proud of our past. We hope to see you on the pitch soon or at least in the stands.
Women’s Team
The Little Rock Stormer Women’s team is a Division 2 Rugby side in the Texas Rugby Union. The women are coached by former USA Eagle, Kate Turpin. Kate’s coaching style is based on strong forward play, especially at the breakdown, with the goal of keeping possession to set up her fast back line. Little Rock Women’s Rugby is continually looking for ways to help our community and grow our rugby family, so come out and join us!
