Profile
The Georgia Amateur Women’s Soccer Association (GAWSA) is Metro-Atlanta’s earliest all women’s soccer league. GAWSA has 3 divisions for all levels of play.
Divisions 1: Upper-level competitive play, with limited modifications to the FIFA rules of the game. Members of this division are typically experienced players with prior playing experience in semiprofessional, college and premiere leagues.
Division 2: Competitive play with limited modifications to the FIFA rules of the game. Members of this division are experienced players with varied soccer experiences who desire to continue to compete and play but are not as competitive as division one.
Division 3: Recreational – The lowest competitive soccer level open to all women from novice to experienced, with a focus on the camaraderie of team play and fitness and skill development. Recreational Division play allows for no slide tackles or keeper contact.
Our league offers 4 seasons of play; fall and spring which are full-field 11-a-side games following FIFA rules and summer and winter which are 7 v 7 smaller matches. Fall season starts in September and runs through November; spring season starts in March and runs through May. Our games are played at various fields located throughout the metro area.
The minimum age to participate is 18 and we are pleased to report that we have players in their 70’s! We have players in all stages of life, from college students to grandparents, and everything in between. Our players are as diverse as the Atlanta metro area, representing our area’s amazing ethnic and cultural diversity.
The women of GAWSA have varying soccer backgrounds and we happily welcome you all. So many wonderful friendships have been made on the pitch, some may have started when you were 5 years old and now you have the opportunity start new friendships with women who share the same love for soccer as you!!
For the love of the game, we hope you will join GAWSA. We can’t wait to welcome you to the pitch!

I’ve been playing in this league since 2010 when my 1st born was just a baby and still going strong. I love the woman I’ve met along the way and the fun we have every Sunday on the pitch and the get togethers off the pitch.
That’s awesome! I lived in Atlanta from 2014-2016 so I played on it briefly. Fun league!
