Profile
The Midwest Suburban Baseball League (MSL) was founded in 1998 when a few determined individuals decided that they had had enough of playing in un-organized men’s adult baseball leagues. In the May of 1998 the MSL was launched with an astounding 20 teams in it’s inaugural season and to a huge success. Top notch fields, low team fees, and outstanding league features, made the MSL an overwhelming success in just its first year. All-Star Games for all three levels of play at Boomers Stadium, Schaumburg.
All Star teams get to watch a Boomers Game in a stadium Suite with lunch included before their game. Discounted concessions during the All-Star Game and Championship Series at all levels at Boomers, along with championship rings to the winners. Individual awards for Home runs, Cy Young, Gold Glove, and MVP.
Word spread fast and teams across the Chicagoland area wanted to be a part of the MSL in 1999. The MSL grew to 30 teams and added a third playing level. This was unprecedented in the Chicagoland area at the time. No other league offered the range of different playing levels that the MSL now offered. 1999 also brought the use of the new Schaumburg Flyers Stadium (Now Boomers Stadium) for the MSL All-Star Weekend, which turned out to be a booming success.
The MSL suffered some growing pains in it’s eighteen season and had to expand it’s Board of Directors to 5 to cover the increasing work load of running the 2th largest Mens Adult Baseball League in the country. Now entering it’s 24th season, the MSL has grown to 46+ teams with 3 divisions.
The MSL plays on fields across the Northwest Suburbs, and we only choose top quality fields to play on. These usually consist of college, minor league, or community parks, and some all turf fields All our fields have grass infields, dugouts, home run fence’s, and most have lights. All our games are 9 innings, (7 innings for the 2nd games in double headers), fully umpired, and fully insured. There are 3 different levels of playing ability and they are as follows:
- National League – Wood Bat/BBCOR – Teams and players wanting to play wood bat. Experienced teams and players.
- American League – Wood/BBCOR – Experienced ex-high school and college players. Some experience in the league and additional pitching depth.
- Central League – Wood/BBCOR – For newly formed teams and in most cases, some high school experience or comparable baseball experience.
We also showcase a fantastic All-Star Weekend for all 3 levels. Our league is always looking for players and teams that are interested in being a part of the MSL.
