Profile
Whether you’re a seasoned cricketer or haven’t picked up a bat since Year 9, the New York Kookaburras is open to all Australians.
Established in 1987, the New York Kookaburras are a cricket club for Australian expats.
Founded by Drew de Carvalho and with the help of then Consulate General Chris Helford, the Kookaburras played their first match in Central Park against a NY England side.
Since then, the Aussies have played matches against other clubs and international expat sides. Annual fixtures have risen from four per year to around a dozen, with sides from the northeast of America keen to play against the New York Aussies.
In 2021, after a large player influx over the two previous seasons, the Kookaburras have been invited to play competitive league cricket in the New York WSL.
