Profile
The Alexandria Roller Hockey League (ARHL) was created for a single purpose: the continuation and growth of roller hockey in Northern Virginia. Since ~2000, area residents have been playing inline hockey at the rink behind Francis C. Hammond Middle School in Alexandria Virginia. We currently have four leagues: two recreational leagues on Tuesday and Sunday for all skill levels, a Co-Ed league on Thursdays that is geared towards female players, and an Elite league that plays on Mondays for more skilled players
Which league is right for me?
Tuesday Rec-A: Equivalent to an A or B level ice league. Best for players who are experienced and have played some level of competitive hockey before. Most players have played for 15+ years with a small portion playing at a collegiate level. Games are played Tuesday nights between 6:30 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.
Tuesday Rec-B: Equivalent to a B or C level ice league. All skill levels are welcome, but best for folks who are confident on their skates and can stickhandle while moving. Skill level generally ranges from intermediate to advanced. Games are played Tuesday nights between 6:30 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.
Super Sunday: Equivalent to a B or C level ice league. All skill levels are welcome, but best for individuals who are just getting started playing, played previously but haven’t played in a while, or are intermediate players. If you can skate forwards and backwards and hold a stick this is a good league for you. Games are played Sunday mornings between 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Thursday Co-Ed: Equivalent to a C or lower level ice league. While women are welcome to play in any of our leagues, the Thursday league is intended for players (male or female) who are just starting out and are looking for a fun and supportive atmosphere to learn the game. During games, each team is required to have at least one female player on the rink. Skill level generally ranges from beginner to intermediate. Games are played Thursday nights between 6:30 p.m. – 10 p.m.
