The Austin Capitals Lacrosse Club is Texas’s premier men’s lacrosse club, as the reigning Texas Cup winners for 7 seasons in row – 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, and 2023 competing in the Southwest Lacrosse Association (SWLA). The SWLA takes place in the spring and is Texas’s premier post-collegiate men’s league comprised of teams from Dallas, Houston, Austin and San Antonio. In the summer, the Caps compete in the local ULax Austin men’s lacrosse league, which hosts 6 teams, winning championships in the first two seasons competing, in 2020 and 2021. During the fall, the Caps scrimmage local MCLA teams and other men’s club teams. Throughout the year, the Caps travel across the country to compete in a number of different high-level tournaments.
The Caps were founded in January 2011 in response to the growing post-collegiate lacrosse talent in Austin, TX. Our mission is to promote the sport of lacrosse to any and all interested in playing it. The Capitals Lacrosse Club holds free clinics for local youth programs throughout the Austin, TX area in an effort to share the diversity of lacrosse knowledge and experience that comes from our diverse group of members. A majority of the players coach local youth and high school teams in the Austin area, as part of our efforts to give back to the local community.
With an average age of 25, the club is open to recent college grads who have moved to Austin, TX. Members of the Capitals Lacrosse Club come from various lacrosse backgrounds, including NCAA D1, D2, D3, and MCLA programs from across the country. All members are professionals in the Austin area and many of our alumni have gone on to business and medical schools.
