NEW MEMBERS
If your application is approved, new members will receive a handbook that explains the rules, aims and history of the club. Initial rowing lessons are all in “gigs”, one-person training boats. After about five or six lessons scheduled according to our coach’s availability, most people are ready to row in gigs on their own.
After 50 miles, new members can be approved to row in team boats. After about 200 miles in a gig, most people are reevaluated by a coach and may be promoted to a more advanced rowing shell. If a new member has sculling experience, an exception to these guidelines may be made.
