Profile
Founded in 1978, the Beantown Softball League is the largest athletic organization open to gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and heterosexual people in New England. The League fosters sportsmanship, friendly competition, and access to the sport of slow-pitch softball. The League has divisions determined by the level of play (competitive, intermediate, and recreational). Players of all ability levels find a fun and competitive home with us.
Our Membership is co-ed (80/20) consisting of players and non-players (significant others, ex-players, etc.) from 19 to 73 years of age. Rosters are restricted to 3 non-LGBT*QQI players but allies (heterosexual players) that have played with us for 5 or more years are not counted in that restriction.
We are a non-profit 501(c)3 organization in Boston. We play in the Spring/Summer (invite only league) and sometimes the Fall (draft league). We host the Minuteman Classic (a yearly national tournament) and we have a Hall of Fame (a group of inductees honored for their contributions to the League).
There are two ways to play in our Spring/Summer games:
1. Join an existing team; or
2. Participate in our Draft Clinic Day held yearly before games begin.
