Our History
Since our founding in the fall of 1964, the Chicago Lions have set the standard for rugby in the Midwest, both on the pitch and off. Boasting countless Midwest Championships, a 2021 Men’s National Sevens Championship, and countless international and professional rugby players amongst its alums, the Chicago Lions have been leaving their mark on the sport of rugby in the U.S. for nearly six decades.
Off the field, the Chicago Lions Charitable Association (CLCA) is dedicated to bettering our community through partnering with local schools and community leaders, our multi-use sports complex, and of course, through teaching our community the sport of rugby.
The Chicago Lions are one of the few rugby clubs in the U.S. that offer a fully integrated rugby program. With teams playing in the Youth, Women’s Division 1, and Men’s Divisions 1 & 2.
We take great pride in offering our players expert coaching, a premier facility, and a platform for them to further develop and improve their game.
