Profile
The Kansas City Boat Club is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote the sport of rowing in the Kansas City area. Membership is open to anyone high school age and above. No prior rowing experience is required to join.
KCBC was re-established in 2015. The original KCBC was incorporated in 1885 and rowed on both sides of the state line. KCBC hosted a race with the St. Louis Rowing Club on the Kansas River in Bonner Springs in 1886, but its primary locations were in Missouri. KCBC first rowed at Washington Park and moved to Fairmount Park in the Sugar Creek area in 1893.
KCBC rows on the Kansas River and launches its boats from a dock located in the Stockyards District of the West Bottoms. KCBC’s equipment is stored in a boatyard made of shipping containers next to the river, northwest of Hy-Vee Arena (f/k/a Kemper Arena).
The KCBC Masters program offers rowing for adults. Masters row year round and have the opportunity to race at several regattas throughout the year. The Masters program is primarily sculling, but there is some sweep rowing.
For those who are new to the sport, we offer Learn to Row sessions and Rowing Clinics.
