Profile
Are you at least 50 years of age?
The Low Country Senior Softball Association, Inc. (LCSSA) is a 501 (c) (7) tax-exempt, non-profit corporation organized pursuant to the Laws of South Carolina. LCSSA is comprised of senior men, 50 years and over, who enjoy the friendships and camaraderie of slow pitch softball. We currently maintain an e-mail roster of over 300 men and every season, we can field from 12-13 teams in three separate leagues.
Each year comprises two seasons, Spring games run from March through June; and Fall season games run from August through November. For Fall 2023, the league will be operating a morning league as well as an evening league. Rosters are typically composed of 14 or 15 players, and with 11 fielders (10 in the Evening League American Division), everyone plays, regardless of ability.
Evening league games will be played every Monday and Wednesday evening at 7:00 pm and 8:30 pm on Fields 1 and 2. Morning league games will be played on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings at 10:00 am on Fields 1 and 2. Our games are played at the Hanahan Fields, located on Railroad Ave. behind Trident Technical College off Rivers Ave.
Typically, each team plays one or two games per week, depending on the number of teams and field availability. We usually play approximately 12 games per season typically followed by a double elimination tournament.
We have weekly practices (weather permitting) on Saturday mornings (time determined by field availability). These practices are held throughout the year and are usually at the Hanahan softball fields behind Trident Technical College. Beginning shortly after each season ends and running typically through opening day, Tuesday morning practices are usually from 10 am – 12 noon at the Hanahan Fields.
We have players from ages 50 through 84 at all different levels of ability. We only ask that you have a good time and not get hurt.
Before you decide to register and play, it’d be beneficial for you to come to a practice and hit and catch a few balls; that will allow our Selection Committee to place you on the best team for you. In all cases, new assignments to a team are done to keep the competitive balance in the league.
Hope to hear from you.
