Profile
The purpose of the league is to encourage a healthier community and promote fellowship by providing a recreational slow-pitch softball league open to all qualified applicants on a come-one-come-all basis.
We are pleased to extend an invitation to you to join the organization. We support your interest in senior softball and are confident that you will find the MASSL an organization that generates a rewarding softball experience through organized league play and the camaraderie of its membership. All games and open practices are located at Best Friend Park, 6224 Jimmy Carter Blvd, Norcross, GA 30071. In addition, it provides a channel to play traveling team senior softball for those who desire a higher level of competition. Our Tournament Teams continue to win regional and national tournaments.
Open practice sessions are available during the off-season (October through March) at Best Friend Park on Monday or Tuesday and Saturday mornings. Depending on the time of year and the weather, practices may start as early as 9:00 a.m. or as late as 11:00 a.m.
New players are invited to attend one practice and complete a waiver before stepping on the field. After that, they are asked to become members by paying the annual membership fee, giving them the year-round ability to attend all practice sessions and eligibility to join the league. New members are welcome to apply for membership at any time.
The 200+ seniors registered in the league represent 12 Metro Atlanta area counties. The membership age ranges from 45 to 84 and the skill level of the membership has an equally wide span. Registration in the league is available for men who turn forty-five (45) years of age and women who turn forty (40) years of age during the calendar year. Registration is normally accomplished during January and February for the First Half and again during June and July for the Second Half.
Completion of a membership application and a release of liability / indemnification waiver along with payment of the combined annual Gwinnett Senior Softball (GSS) member fee and league registration fees is all that is required. After the registration has been completed, members are permitted to participate in MASSL games as well as in the practice sessions generally held at Gwinnett County’s Best Friend Park.
