DETROIT’S PREMIER ADULT HOCKEY ORGANIZATION
The Motor City Mayhem hockey club is an established adult hockey club based in southeast Michigan, an area affectionately known as Hockeytown. Founded by entrepreneurs Austin Mesler and Zakk Saam in the spring of 2009 after peaking at their hockey careers, from Junior A hockey to Rec leagues, both had the dream of creating and developing a hockey club where players could still continue to play competitive organized hockey in a team setting and have some fun in the process. Having both lived in the suburbs of Detroit all their lives, it was a name that they both felt was fitting for their goal to create a recognizable brand in the area. The 1st inaugural team assembled skilled players from all over the heavily hockey-dense area to play roller hockey. Today, the Motor City Mayhem plays from August through June. Great Players from all over the Metro-Detroit area are added every season to the prestigious Mayhem Nation, growing their popularity and recognition as being the best place for the “Beer League” Adult Hockey Experience. They have created a name for themselves around southeastern Michigan with a professional program and a winning tradition upon having made the Mayhem crest widely recognized and known for their success, rapid growth, and appearance in major tournaments around the United States and Canada.
The Mayhem currently plays from September through June, with three teams: a tier-I ice hockey team playing in the Eddie Edgar Adult Hockey League in Livonia and three teams playing in the Ann Arbor Adult Hockey League in Ann Arbor. All participants of the Motor City Mayhem must be at least 18 years of age. Recruitment for all teams begins approximately one month before the season starts, with roster finalization finishing within two weeks. Training camp and practice commence during the final two weeks before each league season begins.
