Profile
The Savannah Shamrocks Rugby Club is the premier rugby club in the Coastal Southeast and has become a consistent powerhouse in Division III of the Georgia Rugby Union.
The Savannah Shamrocks Rugby Club is a rugby union team from Savannah, Georgia. We were founded in 1978 by Tom Nelson and Carl Shoemaker, who were looking for something “different” to do. As a result, our Savannah rugby tradition was established. The club now boasts over 50 members spread throughout our organization. This includes a Men’s and Women’s team as well as an Old Boy’s squad to maintain our extensive network of players. The teams play throughout the Southeastern region and are members of the Carolinas Geographic Union and USA Rugby. We have experienced coaching and support staff led by Matthew Midgett and Katryna Ritter. The Shamrocks are fortunate to also have members intertwined within the community and strong partnerships with local businesses. This network provides support for training sessions and matches both home and away. The club’s home field is at Daffin Park, in the heart of Savannah, Georgia, and the team colors are Kelly green and gold.
